hua cheng is ranked six of diamonds.
the diamond tattoo is as pictured to the left—it's fairly simple, about four or five inches tall and located with its uppermost tip right between hua cheng's collarbones.
initially, the tattoo is inked in a pale red color, definitely a little darker than pink but still soft enough to go fairly unnoticed; as it deepens, it will deepen to a color that's just about right for freshly-spilled blood. (very on brand for a guy called "crimson rain sought flower" tbh.)
PREFERENCES
PHYSICAL AFFECTION: he much prefers to be the initiator and will probably not react well if surprised with physical contact, but he's not necessarily entirely opposed to it.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: not really recommended, but i mean, sure, step to him and see how long you last? hua cheng is always down for a good fight.
RELATIONSHIPS: heart eyes for xie lian only; not especially inclined to make friends, but he can be persuaded to be allies. he does have a soft spot for people who he sees as having been ostracized or downtrodden by society.
PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: without the password to his communication array, trying to get inside his head will be an extremely unpleasant experience.
MAGICAL INFORMATION: see below for a breakdown of hua cheng's various abilities. short version: he's an extremely highly ranked ghost king and is commensurately powerful. unless he's actively trying to suppress his spritual aura, characters sensitive to that kind of thing might perceive the vibes as anything from "this guy is maybe not strictly human" to "holy shit this guy is a fucking calamity."
MEDICAL INFORMATION: he's a ghost, so he can't die unless he wants to (or unless his ashes are destroyed). his physical body might be temporarily destroyed, but he always comes back.
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: nothing for himself, but if a single disrespectful word about xie lian crosses your lips.......
BACKTAGGING: absolutely! depending on how long a thread is likely to take i might ask to briefly discuss its overall direction (especially if it'll influence other threads going on at the same time), but i definitely don't mind things taking a while.

NOT INTERESTED IN: in the event that a character perceives hua cheng's bad vibes (see above), i personally would appreciate if that didn't immediately result in some kind of public callout and/or going around telling everybody his business. it just kinda puts a damper on the rp experience ykwim
SHIPPING
SEXUALITY: pansexual for purposes of shipping other than xie lian! honestly, the concept of ~sexuality has honestly not really occurred to him; this is, after all, a man who has spent 800 years dedicatedly in love with one person in particular.
GENDER: male, but not like, deeply attached to it? probably as a ghost hua cheng isn't especially attached to his physical form.
FAVE: xie lian >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>! otherwise, with the right setup, i could be persuaded to literally almost anything.
NOT INTERESTED IN: icly, honestly he's not really interested in much of anything other than xie lian. oocly, i'm pretty much open to anything, so come on down and we can chat.
APPEARANCE
hua cheng has many forms, but his most-common two are his own original form and that of san lang.
in san lang's form, he appears to be a youth of about sixteen or seventeen. san lang stands 188cm tall (thank you mxtx for the specificity!) and he has long, dark brown or black hair that's kept in a messy and often off-center ponytail. his eyes are a lightish warm brown color and he's usually smiling. san lang dresses a little less ostentatiously than hua cheng does, so he's usually wearing a tangzhuang with a mid-thigh-length robe over it. he more or less looks like the son of a well-off house who's taking his chances wandering the world.
as hua cheng, the vibe is different. hua cheng is crimson rain sought flower, the supreme-ranked ghost king of paradise manor, and he dresses the part entirely. he stands at a height of 190cm and wears his hair is much longer in this form, falling down past his butt. although he does tie it up, it's in more interesting/elaborate styles than the ponytail san lang wears. he only has one eye, and he covers the missing one with an eyepatch; the remaining visible eye is slightly darker brown or sometimes red, depending. he wears a lot of crimson and black (gotta match the title after all) and accessorizes with dramatic silver chains, heavy on the butterfly motif.
in either form, he has a tattoo on his left forearm. the tattoo appears for all intents and purposes to just be a bunch of aesthetic swirlies, but in reality it's a tattoo of xie lian's name in hua cheng's unbelievably atrocious handwriting.
VISUALS, SAN LANG: normal, normal, modern (with longer hair...)

AURAL: when talking to xie lian, low-ish and soft, very gentle (ft. 1:22 of san lang calling xie lian "gege"); when talking to others, much less forgiving.

DEMEANOR: as san lang, very curious and charming, playful, teasing, not prone to take anything seriously; as hua cheng, honestly a little bit arrogant, big dick energy

SPIRITUAL POWERS
as is so common in xianxia danmei type literature, hua cheng is possessed of a type of spiritual energy that allows him to perform feats of essentially powerful magic. in hua cheng's case, these powers are born from his deep love for xie lian, his desire to protect xie lian, and his anger at the world for treating xie lian the way it does. and thanks to the fact that he's had 800 years to grow his strength and hone his abilities, hua cheng is extremely powerful!
within the universe of tgcf/heaven official's blessing, ghosts are widely divided into four categories. there are some translation disagreements between media about what the exact names of the categories are, but either way hua cheng is one of three named "supreme/devastation rank" ghosts in the series. while ghosts of the lowest level are able to maybe kill a single target, ghosts of the supreme/devastation rank are easily able to destroy entire nations. some examples of feats performed by supreme-ranked ghosts in tgcf include: devouring other ghosts and ghouls and absorbing their powers; commanding puppets to act as their proxies in battle; large-scale destruction of buildings or land; and creating self-contained domains that amplify their powers, among others.
some other abilities hua cheng possesses include the ability to use spiritual arrays, or spells that require a talisman drawn in some kind of powerful medium (like blood or cinnabar). this includes the distance shortening array (basically allowing him to open a door and walk through it to a place hundreds of miles away) and spiritual communication array (which allows him to communicate telepathically with anyone whose password he knows). he can also perform less involved spells, like creating clones of himself, turning people into budaoweng dolls when they piss him off, shielding himself, making rooms soundproof... etc. he can change his appearance at will (although he's usually in one of two forms, either his real form or his "san lang" form) and can dissipate his body into a cloud of butterflies (see below re: "wraith butterflies") and float away in them.
honestly it's kind of one of those "he's so powerful that if you can think of a spell he's most likely able to do it" situations...
GHOST POWERS
just by virtue of being a ghost, hua cheng doesn't age and has no need for food or sleep. unless his ashes are destroyed, he also can't be killed unless he wants to die.
HUA CHENG FLAVOR POWERS
all of the supreme-ranked ghosts in tgcf have their own, like, signature moves, for lack of a better term. hua cheng's include summoning any number of silver "wraith butterflies," which have a number of uses for him. they can form a very strong shield, heal wounds, spy or do recon work, attack, and can work as communication devices by conveying words or images between people.
hua cheng can move at extreme speed and appears as a flash of crimson light when he does so. he also has the ability to summon blood rain, which is honestly mostly for the vibes. it's just blood that rains down. no other effects than making him look metal as fuck. these are moves that are pretty much in keeping with his ghost king moniker, "crimson rain sought flower," and in combination with the fact that he's always dressed in red i think we can safely say that hua cheng leans into his concept…
